It was nearing Saturday afternoon braai time. We were set up and ready to go. We had the meat, the salad and the all important beer. Oh and charcoal and petrol as a fire lighter (ha, only kidding, maybe…). Right, so a quick last minute check just to make sure and oh bugger! NO starters!
Oh Bugger! (Continued)
What to do, what to do. Ah, a solution dawned on us. Let’s use our old trusty, the great and mighty interweb to help us! So the search was on, we needed a tasty starter. Preferably an easy one. A bit of a search later we came across Braaiboy. On his site he has some great recipes for starters and other things. After some scrolling we found a simple (yay) but tasty one. Braaiboy says:
I love recipes that are very simple to make, yet impress the hell out of your friends come braai time
The recipe was sweet potato wrapped in Bacon. Sounds good. So another quick ingredients check to get us on our way to making this bacon wrapped heaven.
Anything wrapped in bacon is most likely gonna taste good
Another OH bugger! moment (we have a few of those). We were missing something. No honey and who keeps around a bottle of smoked paprika? Now what do we do? Feeling lazy, we didn’t want to leave our back garden. Not to mention we were wearing our best braai clothes, shorts, slops and suntan lotion.
Fetch the City to the rescue.
We had a brainwave, which isn’t easy on a Saturday. Our buddies at Fetch the City could fetch it for us. Back to the interweb and a quick click later, we placed our order. Not a bad price for them to play fetch. Now all we had to do was wait a short time for our ingredients and hey presto we would have a yummy starter 🙂 . #fetchthecity #pretoria #braairecipes.
